Born and raised in Brazil, now based in Budapest, Laura Mendonzza creates art for romantics. Her contemporary figurative style has signature bold colours, stemming from Laura's attraction to eye-catching beauty.
Her journey with art began at childhood, as a natural interest grew with her sensitivity. Laura began to draw as she grew up in the countryside of Brazil, and reignited after her coming of age in Budapest.
Her art is motivated by her search for freedom, and questions surrounding belonging, beauty, destiny and will power.
"Art came to me as the desire to find myself deeper appeared. I was lost, I had neglected myself, I didn't know who I was. Making art unfolded naturally, as it had when I was a child — an instinct returning the moment I decided to become someone fuller, to tap into my potential and unlock what made me unique. From that point on, something opened in me. Someone I didn't know was there. My dreams became paintings; my stories, my poems."
