Born and raised in Brazil, now based in Budapest, Laura Mendonzza creates art for romantics. Her contemporary figurative style has signature bold colours, stemming from Laura's attraction to eye-catching beauty.
Her journey with art began at childhood, in the countryside of Brazil, where she was surrounded by farm animals and attended music school. From music to visual arts, her identity as an artist reignited after her coming of age in Budapest.
Her art is motivated by her search for freedom, and questions surrounding belonging, beauty, destiny and will power.
"Art came to me as the desire to find myself deeper appeared. I was lost, I had neglected myself, I didn't know who I was. Making art unfolded naturally, as it had when I was a child — an instinct returning the moment I decided to become someone fuller, to tap into my potential and unlock what made me unique. From that point on, something opened in me. Someone I didn't know was there. My dreams became paintings; my stories, my poems."
